Our ECO Club is doing a fantastic job! On Wednesday after school, a group of 30 pupils, from Year 7 to Sixth Form, along with dedicated staff, headed out to conduct a community litter pick in the Compton Park area just outside the Academy grounds.
Their hard work made an immediate impact, collecting over 20 bags full of rubbishāincluding some unusual finds like a pair of curtains and old car parts! This practical effort perfectly demonstrates our commitment to “care for our common home,” keeping our local surroundings clean, beautiful, and safe for both our community and local wildlife.
We will also be supported in our ongoing efforts by the volunteer group, Friends of Smestow Valley.
St Edmundās extends a heartfelt thank you to the City of Wolverhampton Council, which kindly provided the litter-picking equipment that made this event possible.
The initiative also had a global reach: students gathered sponsorship from family, friends, and supporters to raise funds for CAFOD (the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development).
Thanks to the hard work of our pupils and the remarkable generosity of everyone who sponsored them, the students raised vital funds which will be donated directly to CAFOD to help communities in need worldwide.
Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged our students in making a positive difference both locally and globally! šš
