Gianluca Bellavia
Type of Governor: Foundation
Link Governor Role: RE and Catholic Life, Finance; Vice Chair
I am Gianluca Bellavia, known as Gian to most people. I was born in Wolverhampton and attended St Edmundâs back when it was a school not an academy (2006-2013). Once leaving sixth form, I studied Pharmacy at the University of Birmingham, whilst working as a store assistant at Aldi on the weekends. After a year of studying, I decided that Pharmacy wasnât going to be my long term career path. Instead, I progressed through the ranks at Aldi over the following 3 years and finally became a Store Manager, to which I still hold the position. I have a wife, who also attended St Edmundâs, and we have an 18 month old daughter who keeps us busy! I attend SS Peter and Paulâs in the parish of Blessed Carlo Acutis, where you will regularly see me playing the organ during Sunday service. This will be my first post as a school Governor and I am grateful to be posted at St Edmundâs. I am keen to see the faith still embedded in all that is taught.

Alison Durnall
Type of Governor: Staff
My name is Alison Durnall. I have worked in education for 18 years, undertaking various roles. My most challenging and rewarding career was working for West Midlands Ambulance Service as a senior controller, answering 999 calls. No two calls were ever the same, and although a lot of the work could be upsetting, there were also those remarkable moments too. I have been married for 27 years. We have two dogs and three wonderful children. My two eldest sons are paramedics, and my youngest son is in year 10 and about to embark on his GCSEs. They all make me proud every single day, and I would say they are by far my greatest achievement. I have previously been a Local Advisory Committee Member for Dudley Academies Trust. I am very passionate about âevery child mattersâ and âno child should be left behind." Every child is morally and legally entitled to an education, and if, by being a Governor, I can support this and raise standards of achievement, then I would say itâs a job worth doing.
Obuks Ejohwomu
Type of Governor: Foundation
Link Governor Role:Â Pupil Premium
My name is Obuks Ejohwomu. I come from a staunch Catholic family in Nigeria and work as an Associate Professor at the University of Manchester. I have extensive experience in civil engineering and a strong commitment to education. I am happily married and have children. I am also proud to be an uncle to two students at St Edmund's Catholic Academy. I am passionate about supporting the school's mission of caring for students and fostering a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
Gethyn Ellis
Type of Governor: Parent Governor
Link Governor Role:Â Health & Safety
My name is Gethyn Ellis. I grew up in Abertridwr, South Wales, and hold a degree in Business as well as a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Wales, Swansea. Since 2007, I have been running a Microsoft Data Platform consultancy and training business. I am a published author and an international conference speaker. Currently, I reside in Wolverhampton with my wife, our four children, and our dog, Ralph. I have been a Parent Governor at St Edmundâs since 2017.
Michael Shipley
Type of Governor: Foundation, Chair
Link Governor Role: Safeguarding; Chair
My name is Mike Shipley, I grew up in North Staffs. At school I was not the best student, much preferring rugby and being outdoors. At 17 I joined the Royal Air Force as an Avionics Engineer, a job I held for the next 30 years. I was lucky enough to work with some fantastic people and visit over 40 countries. I was involved in designing and delivering military engineering training for over 10 years. I now work as a lecturer delivering engineering training to students up to degree level. For my education I left school with 4 O levels and 3 CSEs; I received a HND in Engineering as a part of my trade training in the RAF, and I also studied with the Open University to gain a Science Degree and Post Graduate qualifications in Maths and Science Education. A Catholic, I've been married for over 30 years and have 4 children, all have now left school and are working or at university.
