St. Michael’s Church came alive with the sound of music on Tuesday evening as St Edmund’s Choir took part in a spectacular candlelit choir service alongside other schools from the area.
The event, conducted by Karl Babarczi with Ann Lombardi at the organ, featured choirs from St. Bernadette’s, SS Peter and Paul’s, St. Teresa’s, The Christopher Chorus, and St. Michael’s. The service opened with a prayer from Reverend McKearney, setting a reverent and festive tone.

St Edmund’s Choir captivated the audience with their heartfelt performances of traditional carols, earning admiration from the packed congregation. A highlight of the evening was a reading by St. Edmund’s Senior Lead Prefect, Phallan Wakeley, who eloquently delivered a passage reflecting on the spirit of Christmas.
After the service, Phallan Wakeley and fellow student Aswin Valentine Pushpakaran volunteered to serve mulled wine and mince pies to guests, assisted by staff members Miss Ridley, Mr. Selvey, and Miss Underhill. Their efforts added a warm, hospitable touch to the evening’s celebrations.
Reverend McKearney commended all participants, saying, “Tonight’s service of the joy and unity this season brings. The talent and dedication of these choirs are truly inspiring.”
The event closed with a sense of community and festive cheer, as attendees enjoyed the music, fellowship, and holiday treats in the church’s welcoming atmosphere.

Well done, girls!
To recognise their outstanding achievement in completing the Silver CARE Award, our Year 10 students were treated to an unforgettable trip to Alton Towers just before the half-term break.
Throughout the day, students explored the park, enjoyed adrenaline-pumping rides, and bravely tackled the park’s infamous scare mazes. The trip was a well-earned reward for their hard work, dedication, and the positive contributions they’ve made to our school community as part of the CARE Award program.
We are thrilled that all the students had an amazing day—this was our way of showing appreciation for their incredible commitment and effort.
A big thank you to Mr. Banks, Mrs. Beech, and Miss Ridley for joining the trip and ensuring it was a fantastic experience for everyone.
Congratulations to our Year 10 students—you’ve made us proud, and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
