Free days for top students. Maybe offer ‘own clothes’ days etc for students who are performing well. Each year group currently has a rewards assembly each half term, where our students are recognised in various areas, e.g. academic progress, meeting our CARE values, most improved conduct. Most year groups also hold reward events, such as a film afternoon, for the students obtaining the highest number of merits.

We encourage every student to participate in the CARE award at bronze, silver, gold and platinum levels. The award involves contributing to the Catholic life of the academy, having excellent attendance and punctuality, having a high merits to warnings ratio and being involved in extracurricular activities
An opportunity to come into school and try the school lunchesWe held our first parent lunch on Tuesday 12th November. We will be hosting another lunch in the spring term. Look out for more info in the parent newsletter and on the Arbor app.
Further communication via text messages rather than emailsUnfortunately the cost of sending out text messages has become too high. The best way to keep up to date with information from school is to download the Arbor app. On the app, in addition to receiving messages, you will be able to see your child’s timetable for the week, their attendance, any rewards/warnings that they have received.

Please click this link for instructions on how to log into Arbor:

More parent coffee morningsWe held our first coffee morning in October and will be hosting more during the year. Look out for more info in the parent newsletter and on the Arbor app.
Unifrog is a really valuable resourceThank you! We are really pleased that you and your child are finding it useful - it is a great careers/higher education platform
More social events for parents to build connections. Perhaps a parent meetup whilst the new students are at summer school? We will be hosting a parents coffee morning for the first hour of summer school this academic year.
Parents find the transition from primary to secondary quite overwhelming. Could there be more communication initially to help us settle? This year, we sent a weekly transition newsletter to year 7 parents for the four weeks.
The ‘handover’ of SEND students could be improved. Perhaps parents could be involved in the handover process moreParents are invited to TAC meetings when Primary schools have highlighted students who have a high level of need (e.g. EHCPs, students open to external services such as Wolverhampton Outreach). There was a SEND transition meeting for parents in Summer 2023. Another was planned for Summer 2024 but was cancelled. Parents are also given an opportunity to discuss SEND during Open Evenings and Welcome Evening. Parents are welcome to contact the SENCO/Assistant SENCO if discussions are needed before students start.
As a Y7 parent it would be good to have a contact sheet to guide knowing who to contact about what eg form tutor/head of year etcThere is now a new section under 'Parents' on the academy website. This lists various contacts in school, their role and their email address.
