Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
I am writing in response to a distressing altercation that occurred between 3 of our Year 9 students after school on Friday 7th May and was unfortunately recorded on student phones. Students are aware that the sharing of school related social media without consent is not permitted at the Academy, in line with our safeguarding policies.
I would like to make it clear that I do not condone these behaviours and a full investigation into this concerning incident has commenced and will be continuing on Monday. All students involved will be sanctioned appropriately in line with our behaviour policy.
We are grateful to our extended community for their guidance and support as we reassure our young people such behaviours will not be tolerated.
Please be assured that this is an isolated incident and we take pride in our wonderfully diverse, multicultural, multi faith school family that works and lives in harmony each day. However, we are never complacent and will continue to challenge all behaviours that lie in opposition to our CARE values.
Thank you once again for your support for St Edmund’s. Through prayer and education we will continue our mission to ensure all people are treated with dignity and respect showing our commitment to Love and Serve the Lord.
Yours sincerely,
Maggie Hazeldine
Principal
