St. Michael’s Church came alive with the sound of music on Tuesday evening as St Edmund’s Choir took part in a spectacular candlelit choir service alongside other schools from the area.
The event, conducted by Karl Babarczi with Ann Lombardi at the organ, featured choirs from St. Bernadette’s, SS Peter and Paul’s, St. Teresa’s, The Christopher Chorus, and St. Michael’s. The service opened with a prayer from Reverend McKearney, setting a reverent and festive tone.
St Edmund’s Choir captivated the audience with their heartfelt performances of traditional carols, earning admiration from the packed congregation. A highlight of the evening was a reading by St. Edmund’s Senior Lead Prefect, Phallan Wakeley, who eloquently delivered a passage reflecting on the spirit of Christmas.
After the service, Phallan Wakeley and fellow student Aswin Valentine Pushpakaran volunteered to serve mulled wine and mince pies to guests, assisted by staff members Miss Ridley, Mr. Selvey, and Miss Underhill. Their efforts added a warm, hospitable touch to the evening’s celebrations.
Reverend McKearney commended all participants, saying, “Tonight’s service of the joy and unity this season brings. The talent and dedication of these choirs are truly inspiring.”
The event closed with a sense of community and festive cheer, as attendees enjoyed the music, fellowship, and holiday treats in the church’s welcoming atmosphere.
