Today we held a Thanksgiving Mass to launch the 50th Anniversary of St Edmund’s Catholic Academy.
His Grace the Most Reverend Archbishop Bernard Longley celebrated Mass in our chapel , which was live streamed to all classrooms. Monsignor Mark Crisp and our own Chaplain, Father Sean Gough were concelebrants.
His Grace spoke of what it means to be part of a Catholic community that has been giving witness to Christ’s message for the past 50 years. After Mass, we celebrated the life of Carlo Acutis, declared “Blessed Carlo Acutis” by the Catholic Church after the many healings recorded when people prayed to him for help.
Principal, Mrs Hazeldine said “ I am delighted to welcome His Grace, Monsignor Mark and Fr Sean into school to launch our 50th anniversary celebrations. Even though we are not allowed to meet together as a school, technology has allowed us to reach every classroom. Carlo Acutis was known to love computers and would be proud!”
