Rosa Parks Day is a holiday in honour of the civil rights leader Rosa Parks. Though she was a seamstress by profession, she also worked as a secretary for the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP. As a member of this group she was sent to Abbeville, Alabama to investigate the case of Recy Taylor. These events lay the groundwork for the MontgomeryĀ Bus Boycott and her later refusal to move from her seat.
