On this day we celebrate the feast day of St Bede the Venerable. He was a theologian, historian, and chronologist who was best known for his Historia Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum, a source for the history of the conversion to Christianity of the Anglo-Saxon tribes. His work introduced the method of dating events from the time of the incarnation (AD, anno Domini, “in the year of our Lord”) into general use.
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. – Isaiah 46:9
